Why I’m Running

By David Shipyor, Candidate for Argo 217 School Board

1. Personal Credentials:

As a Communications Consultant and a proud graduate of the University of Illinois with a Master’s in Public Administration, I have developed a strong foundation in public service and administration. My experience as a Village of Justice Economic Development Board Member and my time serving Indian Springs School District 109 have given me a unique understanding of the importance of effective governance and responsible decision-making.

I also hold an Educator’s License, which has provided me with a deeper appreciation for the challenges and opportunities facing our education system.

2. Motivation for Running:

I am running for the Argo 217 School Board because I care deeply about the future of our education system. As a nonpartisan candidate, I am committed to putting the needs of our students and community first, without the influence of party politics.

I believe that every child deserves access to a high-quality education, and I am dedicated to ensuring that our school district is providing the best possible education to all students.

3. Vision and Goals:

My vision for the Argo 217 School Board is one of fiscal responsibility, transparency, and a commitment to investing in local public education. I believe that we need to ensure school funding is being spent properly to best educate students within the district.

I also believe that we need to make government work within its means and prevent new taxes, advocating for lower taxes and reducing the tax burden on businesses and residents.

Furthermore, I am committed to enforcing strong conflict of interest rules to keep politics out of our schools and ensure that our education system is free from corruption.

4. Standing Apart in the Race:

What sets me apart from other candidates is my unique blend of experience in public administration, education, and economic development. My nonpartisan approach and commitment to transparency and accountability make me the ideal candidate for the Argo 217 School Board.

I am not beholden to any special interests or party politics, and I am free to make decisions that are in the best interest of our students and community.
